Project Overview

STech Engineering completed the complete financial proposal and site execution for supplying, installing, testing, and commissioning an Early Streamer Emission (ESE) Lightning Protection System (LPS) for Rupsha Tyres & Chemicals Limited in Sonargaon, Narayanganj. Covering a total factory area of 188,793.72 sq. ft., the active ESE system ensures maximum coverage against direct lightning strikes, strictly adhering to local BNBC-2020 and international standards (NFC 17-102 / IEC / NFPA).

Scope of Work & Technical Specifications

1. Active Air Terminal Setup:

   • Installation of high-grade ABB OPR 60 ESE Air Terminal (Origin: France) with a protection radius of 97m.

   • Installation of ABB Lightning Stroke Counter and Recorder.

   • Mounting setup including 60mm Dia GI Extension Mast, GI Guy Wire support with clamps, and Pole Base CC.

2. Down Conductor & Earthing System:

   • Laying of 20mm x 3mm Solid Copper Strip down conductors.

   • 12.7mm dia Copper Earth Electrodes and earthing leads.

   • Earth boring (110 ft depth) with civil earth pits 600mmx600mmx600mm and RCC slabs with lifting hooks.

   • Custom Test Boxes (10"x8"x6") equipped with 35mmx5mm Copper Busbars.

3. Surge Protection & Safety Accessories:

   • Integration of ABB Type 1+2 Surge Protective Device (SPD) for indirect lightning protection.

   • Complete accessory suite including Copper Saddles, U-Clamps, Cable Lugs, Joint Clamps, and Guy Wires.

4. Testing, Engineering & Handover:

   • Preparation of LPS As-Built Design by STech Engineering.

   • Earth Resistance Testing using calibrated digital earth testers (Kyoritsu 4105A) and official test reporting.

   • Final testing, commissioning, and client handover.
